Food Culture: The Best Podcast for “Top Chef” Fans

The food we eat, how we eat and prepare it is so intricately tied to our culture, our heritage and outlook on life that it is a lens through which we can explore our shared humanity.

My passion for cooking, dining experiences, and exploring new flavors and culinary techniques started very early. My earliest memories are of sitting, feet dangling way above the kitchen floor, watching my mother prep our meals, every day, from scratch, in the small but well kept, pre-war, walk-up apartment in East Harlem, New York that I was raised in. The aroma wafting out was glorious. My mother, before she became ill, was renown for her food.

For many of us, the appreciation for the creativity, skill, and passion of cooking and creating amazing food began this way. It this type of bond that is among the wide range of topics covered by two dads, Shark & The Hammer, in their On The Rocks with Shark & The Hammer podcast, after a lifetime of working together in restaurants and weighing in on everything from food, drinks, to sports.

This season, they’re covering Top Chef Wisconsin | Season 21 and doing their own competitive Top Chef Fantasy Draft, in addition to prepping us for a new season of The Bear and just talking about life, current cultural events and more. You may just want to check them out.

They have new episodes out every Friday.

I’m a huge fan!

*Full disclosure: The Hammer happens to also be my hubby.
